FORGE Terms of Use

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Joe Hilton, a sole trader trading as Built Not Born in the United Kingdom ("we", "us" or "FORGE"). By creating an account you agree to them. Please read them with the Privacy Policy.

2. Who can use FORGE

You must be 18 or over and live somewhere FORGE is offered on the App Store. One account is for one person.

3. What FORGE is and is not

FORGE is a journaling and self-development tool. It is not therapy, counselling or medical advice. It is not an emergency service.

Reflections, coaching and guided sessions are written by AI. They can be inaccurate or unsuitable for your situation. Use your own judgement and speak to a qualified professional about your health.

If you are in crisis or at risk of harm, call 999 or Samaritans on 116 123.

Breathwork and guided sessions are physical practices. Follow the safety notes in the app. Never do them in water or while driving. Stop if you feel unwell.

4. Your account

Keep your login details private. You are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us straight away at admin@builtnotborn.uk if you think someone else has used it.

5. Subscription and free trial

• FORGE is a monthly subscription at the price shown in the App Store, billed by Apple through your Apple ID. In the UK this is £7.99 a month.
• Eligible new subscribers get a free trial of the length shown on the subscription screen. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the paid subscription starts automatically.
• The subscription renews each month unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Cancel in your iPhone Settings under your Apple ID, then Subscriptions.
• Deleting your FORGE account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it with Apple first.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under its own rules at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• If the price changes, Apple will tell you in advance and ask for your agreement where required.
• Your first reflection is free. After that, AI features need an active subscription.

6. Fair use

FORGE sets daily limits on AI features and guided audio so the service stays fast and affordable for everyone. You must not:

• try to get around those limits, the subscription or the app's security
• use FORGE to harm, harass or deceive anyone
• copy, resell or reverse engineer the app
• use automated tools to access FORGE

7. Your content

What you write in FORGE is yours. You give us permission to store and process it only to run FORGE for you, as the Privacy Policy explains. The reflections and insights written for you are yours to use personally.

8. FORGE's content

The app, its design, its writing and its images belong to Built Not Born or its licensors. You may use them only within FORGE for your own personal use.

9. Changes and availability

We may change, add or remove features. We try to keep FORGE available but cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. If a change significantly reduces what your subscription gives you, we will tell you in advance.

10. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Profile. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where it is fair to do so, we will warn you first.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited. Your rights under consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015, are not affected.

Otherwise, we are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, for business losses or for decisions you make based on AI content. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for FORGE in the 12 months before the claim.

12. Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for FORGE or its content and has no obligation to provide support or maintenance. If FORGE fails to meet any applicable warranty, you can tell Apple and Apple may refund the price you paid. Apple has no other warranty obligation.

Apple is not responsible for claims about FORGE, including product liability claims, claims that it breaks a law or regulation and consumer protection claims. Apple is not responsible for investigating or defending a claim that FORGE infringes someone else's intellectual property. You must comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use FORGE. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

You confirm that you are not in a country under a UK or US government embargo and are not on a UK or US government list of restricted parties.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change. Significant changes are shown in the app before they apply. If you keep using FORGE after that, the new terms apply.

14. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes go to the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
